into the New Year

We have had our first couple of weeks into the New Year and we are doing pretty good!

Last week we took Holden for his 4 month check up and he is now a whopping 16lbs 8oz, and 25 inches long. His head and length measurements are in the 50th percentile and his weight is in the 75th. We have ourselves a big healthy boy! He also got 2 shots and a “drink”. He did not like any of those but did ok. It was unfortunate that he had a bit of a cold that day and the few days leading up to it so he was a bundle of uncomfortable I-don’t-feel-good. He did however sleep AWESOME that night, which of course just freaked me out. He slept 7 hours straight, which as most of you know is unheard of in this house. Needless to say, I did wake myself out of a deep sleep just to get up and check on him. We also moved him into his own room that week, which I am sure only aided my anxiety.

We also began solid foods with the boy! The first thing he ate was bananas! He loved them! Here are a couple of videos of him eating… http://youtu.be/_fbM6kKe1Dk and http://youtu.be/kTGaM5ZdxRw So far we have tried, bananas, sweet potatoes, prunes, peas, pears and rice cereal. He loves all of them! This weekend we began giving him the cereal at night and then some kind of fruit or vegetable in the morning. He is a pretty good eater! We are still continuing breastfeeding as well.  Our goal with that is to go a whole year, and so far so good.

With solid food comes interesting poop… I know, I know not everyone’s favorite topic, but seriously, he has had one of the biggest poop’s I have ever seen. Like took both Robert and I to clean him up. (Partly because Holden now likes to reach down there) I mean it was serious.  He doesn’t do it as often anymore, but when he does, watch out! Ok that’s enough about poop.

For xmas we got a BUNCH of amazon.com gift certificates (Thank you Punnetts!) as well as some much needed moolah (Everyone else ;) ) so we bought a highchair, a food mill, and a few other things to help expand our baby stuff list. Robert also got himself a couple of much needed items. I couldn’t think of anything I needed or wanted so I didn’t get anything. Seems like the start of the “nothing for mom” thing that so many of us(I am an us!) do. Though I did buy a new pair of jeans (cheap ones) so I could have a pair that fit and don’t have huge holes in the crotch from wear and tear. Yes, my 8 year old Banana Republic $10 birthday jeans now have crotch holes and have to be retired. Anyway, we have more stuff now. Gee, imagine that.20130109_173007

As you can see, he enjoys his new high chair!20130113_075611

This weekend Holden also showed off and perfected his rolling over from back to tummy… to the left? We also have video of that here…http://youtu.be/GEm_yGYwmv8 But seriously, every time I put him on the floor to play he rolls over. Thankfully, he doesn’t hate being on his tummy so he will continue playing. He also seems to love more of his toys now. There is this fish rattle teether thing that he really loves and then those linkable different textured rings he really loves now too. He also can grab his toes… almost can get one foot in his mouth, giggles and laughs TONS more, says mama when he cries, grabs EVERYTHING, kicks his legs while on his tummy, and he loves playing with our keyboards on our computers so we let him play with the extra one we have :) here he is chatting away http://youtu.be/xajH2BBp5hI20130110_200358

I took a picture of him on the baby monitor to show the weird things he does at night. He is so funny and cute!20130105_122743

He sits up like a boss.20130101_150236 20130103_081019

Look at those baby muscles!

Other than all that, we are just going with the flow. Doing our best to keep our boy happy and healthy… which we seem to be doing a pretty darn good job :) He is just great. Love him. Seriously. Oh and Robert are doing our best trying to enjoy the few moments we have together while Holden is sleeping… usually with our new obsession American Horror Story.

Have a great week everyone!

XOXO The Punnett’s

  1. What a cutie! He is a big guy and I can’t believe he’s sitting unsupported like that at 4 months old!! Yay for breastfeeding still! My son (16 months) and I are still going strong with nursing too. :D
